Is Pressure Treated Lumber illegal?
NO - Pressure Treated Lumber itself is NOT illegal. You can still buy it, have it, use it, install it.... it's just difficult to dispose of. Our local landfills make it cumbersome, especially for contractors to get rid of PT. They make us fill out a form (complete waste of time). We can no longer DUMP (using a dump trailer or dump truck) the PT (that would be too quick, easy, efficient and effective. Instead, we must pick up each piece of PT one by one, and carelfully place it in the BIN (where it gets hauled to Marina)... OR we can drive it to Marina - that takes extra time (and money).
What if I want a deck built?
A deck (Trex, Timbertech, Doug Fir) regardless of the type of deck boards used, they all require a Pressure Treated substructure. We highly recommend Pavers, Concrete, or Stamped Concrete rather than a deck. All 3 cost less than a deck, and will out last any deck. Call today to schedule a free consultation.
Where can I verify if PT is illegal to dump in the state of California?
